DisplayPort 1.2, released January 7, 2010, doubled maximum bandwidth to 21.6 Gbps via a new High Bit Rate 2 (HBR2) mode, enabling 4K at 60Hz for the first time. Its headline feature, Multi-Stream Transport (MST), lets multiple monitors daisy-chain from a single DisplayPort output.
HDMI 2.0, released September 4, 2013, raised maximum bandwidth to 18 Gbps, finally enabling 4K resolution at 60Hz. It also increased maximum audio to 32 channels; HDR support followed later via the HDMI 2.0a update in 2015, not the original 2.0 release.
