Why Lug-Centric Mounting Vibrates

Aftermarket wheels are intentionally manufactured with oversized center bores (such as 73.1 mm) to fit multiple vehicle brands. Mounting a 73.1 mm wheel onto a 57.1 mm VW hub relying solely on conical lug bolts ('lug-centric') results in slight micro-misalignment off-axis, causing annoying steering wheel vibrations at 60–80 mph (100–130 km/h). Installing precision aluminum hub-centric rings eliminates the gap completely.
