Rule of Thumb for Heavy-Duty Leg Selection
When choosing heavy-duty staples, the staple leg length must equal the thickness of the compressed paper stack plus 3 to 5 mm for the clinch turnover. Using a 23/24 staple on a 20-sheet document will cause the extra wire to tangle and jam the anvil, while using a 23/8 staple on 100 sheets will fail to penetrate through the bottom page.
