Cross-Border Filing Cabinet Incompatibility
Because North American Letter filing rails are spaced at 12.25 inches (311 mm) while European A4 suspension rails are spaced at 330 mm (13.0 inches), European A4 hanging files are too wide to sit on US filing cabinet rails, and US Letter hanging files will fall between the tracks of European cabinets.
