Directly tapping threads into 3D-printed parts creates weak plastic threads that strip after 1–2 screw insertions. By pressing a brass knurled insert with a heated iron tip into an undersized hole, the plastic melts into the external knurl channels. Once cooled, it creates a permanent steel-compatible brass machine thread capable of hundreds of assembly cycles.
