Nuts & Threaded Inserts

Cap and Acorn nuts (standardized under DIN 1587 and ASME B18.2.2) feature a domed, blind-ended crown that completely encloses the protruding end of a mating screw or threaded rod. They prevent snagging on clothing, protect exposed threads from corrosion and moisture, and provide a finished decorative appearance on consumer goods, bicycles, and furniture.

The Flange Nut (standardized under DIN 6923 and ISO 4161) is a hexagonal nut featuring an integrated wide, circular washer-like flange base. Available in smooth and serrated locking variants, it distributes clamping pressure over a larger surface area and eliminates the need for separate flat washers in high-speed automotive and industrial assembly.

The Standard Hex Nut (standardized under ISO 4032, DIN 934, and ASME B18.2.2) is a 6-sided internal-threaded mechanical fastener. Paired with mating machine screws and structural bolts, it converts rotational tightening torque into axial clamping preload across industrial and architectural assemblies.

The Nyloc Nut (Nylon-Insert Lock Nut / Prevailing Torque Nut, standardized under ISO 7040 and DIN 985) incorporates a non-threaded polymer nylon ring permanently captured in an upper crown collar. When threaded onto a bolt, the nylon insert deforms elastically around the bolt threads, generating high frictional prevailing torque that prevents vibrational back-off.

Threaded inserts (including brass heat-set inserts for 3D-printed thermoplastics and helical wire coils / Helicoils for soft aluminum) provide robust, reusable internal machine screw threads in materials that would otherwise strip under repeated fastener torque.

The Wing Nut (Butterfly Nut, standardized under DIN 315 and ASME B18.6.9) features two large ergonomic metallic side projections ("wings") extending vertically from the central threaded boss. Designed for rapid, tool-free tightening and loosening by hand, it is the standard fastener on stage lighting C-clamps, drum set cymbal stands, and battery terminals.
