Understanding the Youth Sizing Reset
In the North American shoe sizing system, children's sizes progress from Size 0 up to Size 13.5 (Little Kid). Instead of continuing to Size 14, the numbering scale resets back to Size 1 (Big Kid / Youth / 'Y'):
- A Youth Size 1Y is one size larger than a Little Kid Size 13.5.
- Youth sizes (3.5Y through 7Y) share identical lasts and foot lengths with US Men's adult sizes (3.5 through 7.0). A woman wearing a US Women's 8.0 can comfortably wear a Youth Size 6.5Y.
