How to Accurately Measure Foot Length at Home

To find your true shoe size:

  1. Place a piece of paper flat against a hard wall on a hard floor.
  2. Stand barefoot on the paper with your heel firmly against the wall under full weight-bearing load.
  3. Use a pencil held vertically (90°) to mark the tip of your longest toe (note: for many people, the second toe is longer than the big toe).
  4. Measure the distance from the edge of the paper to the mark in millimeters or centimeters.
  5. Measure both feet and select the size corresponding to your larger foot. Standard shoe lasts incorporate 10 to 15 mm of internal toe allowance for walking elongation.
