Portable LP propane cylinders standardize capacities from 20-lb BBQ tanks (4.7 liquid gallons / 430,000 BTU) fitted with Type 1 QCC1 / OPD overfill valves, to 1-lb disposable camping cylinders and 100-lb residential cylinders filled to the 80% legal safety limit.

Swimming pool dimensions and water volumes are standardized by World Aquatics (formerly FINA) and residential building codes into Olympic Long Course (50.0 × 25.0 × 2.0 m / 2.5 million liters / 660,000 gallons), Short Course (25.0 m / 25.0 yards), and standard residential rectangular sizes (12×24 ft to 20×40 ft).
