Why 1/2-Inch Router Shanks Vibrate Less Than 1/4-Inch
Beam deflection is inversely proportional to the fourth power of diameter (d⁴):
Stiffness Ratio = (0.500)⁴ ÷ (0.250)⁴ = 0.0625 ÷ 0.0039 = 16
