The Come Out Roll & Establishing a Point

A round of Craps begins with the shooter's 'Come Out' roll:

Natural (7 or 11): Pass Line bets win immediately 1:1; Don't Pass bets lose.
Craps (2, 3, or 12): Pass Line bets lose immediately. On Don't Pass, 2 and 3 win, while 12 is a tie (push).
Point Established: If the roll is 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10, that number becomes the 'Point'. The shooter continues rolling until they roll the Point again (Pass Line wins) or roll a 7 (Seven Out — Pass Line loses).

The Free Odds Bet (Zero House Edge)

Once a Point is established, players who made a Pass Line bet may back it with a secondary wager called 'Taking Odds'. Casinos pay true mathematical odds on this bet, making the house edge exactly 0.0%:

Points 4 and 10 pay 2:1 (since there are 3 ways to make 4/10 vs 6 ways to make 7).
Points 5 and 9 pay 3:2 (4 ways to make 5/9 vs 6 ways to make 7).
Points 6 and 8 pay 6:5 (5 ways to make 6/8 vs 6 ways to make 7).
