The ISO 11446 Connector (also known as the Jaeger 13-Pin European standard) is the modern mandatory trailer electrical interface across Europe, the UK, and Australia. Featuring an IP-sealed, waterproof bayonet twist-locking circular housing with 13 gold-plated pin contacts supporting individual left/right lighting circuits, rear fog lamps, reverse lights, and continuous/switched caravan power.

The ISO 1724 Connector (commonly known as the European Type 12N 7-Pin plug) is the classical European standard for basic trailer lighting. Featuring a circular 7-pin metal or plastic housing with split brass pins, it provides the essential exterior road lighting circuits (left/right turn, isolated left/right tail lights, brake lights, and rear fog lamp).

Trailer Tow Balls (standardized globally under ISO 1103 for the 50.0 mm metric standard, and under SAE J684 for North American imperial sizes: 1-7/8", 2.0", 2-5/16", and 3.0") provide the spherical articulated mechanical pivot point between the towing vehicle and trailer coupler.

SAE J684 defines the standard classification system for passenger car and light truck receiver hitches in North America. It formally standardizes 4 classes (I–IV) based on receiver square tube opening dimensions (1-1/4", 2.0") and maximum Gross Trailer Weight Rating (GTWR from 2,000 lb up to 10,000 lb) and Tongue Weight (TW); a heavier-duty "Class V" tier is widely marketed by hitch manufacturers but is not itself an SAE J684-defined class.

The US 4-Pin Flat Connector (standardized under SAE J1239) is the ubiquitous North American electrical plug for light-duty utility trailers, small boat trailers, and snowmobile haulers without electric brakes. Utilizing an inline rubber molded connector with one exposed male pin and three shrouded female sockets.

The US 7-Way RV Blade Connector (standardized under SAE J2863) is the primary heavy trailer electrical interface in North America. Encased in a rugged round socket with a spring-loaded weather flap, it provides 7 flat brass blade terminals powering tail lights, turn signals, reverse backup lights, 12V auxiliary battery charging, and proportional electric trailer brakes.
